Claudia Winkleman is to have eye surgery next week.

The presenter says her minus 14 vision has become so poor she's struggling to lead a normal life.

'I can't even begin to tell you how blind I am,' explains Claudia, 38.

'It's
embarrassing. I can't read the autocue. My eyes have deteriorated so
badly, I'm not meant to drive. So I booked into the doctor.'

Claudia - who is severely short-sighted - will have strong artificial lenses fitted at London's Moorfields Eye Hospital next week. 

She will then have laser treatment to correct a stigmatism a month later. 

'I had to ask him a few questions like am I going to die?' Claudia tells The Sun. 'To which [the doctor] laughed at me.

'And could my eye pop out and roll? He replied: "You're quite highly strung yet hilarious."'
