Cheryl Cole: Ashley's made me strong

Her shock decision to allow her ex back into her life as she plans her big comeback

Cheryl Cole is now in LA

As Cheryl Cole finally emerged from her Surrey mansion last week and made her way to her local Starbucks for a full-fat Frappuccino, she looked the picture of health.

Having been out of the spotlight for weeks after being struck down with a deadly strain of malaria, the stricken star was clearly on the mend - and by last Friday she was even well enough to jet off to LA with dancer Derek Hough.

Now can reveal that Cheryl's healthy new glow is partly down to one man - and shockingly, it's not Derek but her estranged husband Ashley.

A source tells us: ‘As soon as Ashley found out that Cheryl  was ill he tried again and again to get in contact with her to check that she was OK. He's nothing if not persistent, but she wouldn't have taken his calls if it didn't give her a boost.

‘They've been in contact again ever since. Making her peace with him has relieved a lot of the stress that their break-up caused her and there's no doubt that's boosted her recovery.'
