Daniel Craig cast in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Actor set to start in film version of best-selling book

Daniel Craig is currently filming Cowboys And Aliens with Harrison Ford

Daniel Craig will play the lead role in the remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - due to be released in December next year.

The original 2009 version was filmed in Swedish.

James Bond star Daniel, 42, has been cast as Mikael Blomkvist, but the key female character Lisbeth Salander is still up for grabs.

In a poll taken by People magazine, readers voted for Kristen Stewart, 20, as the actress they'd most like to see play the pierced and tattooed computer hacker.

Ellen Page, 23, is also a hot favourite for the role.

Filming will take place in Sweden, and the movie will be directed by David Fincher, who previously directed The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will be the first of three adaptations of the bestselling Millenium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson.
