Charlotte Church: Why have you humiliated me, Gavin?

All hopes of getting back together dashed as Gavin Henson speaks about split

Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson were together for five years and have two children - Ruby, 2, and Dexter, 19 months

After Charlotte Church's former fiancé Gavin Henson admitted in an interview there was no chance of them reconciling, the devastated singer broke down in tears.

‘Charlotte called Gavin after he very publicly slammed her hopes of getting back together,' an insider tells Now.

‘She was gutted and felt humiliated. What was once amicable is now strained.'

The fiery arguments Charlotte and Gavin had during their relationship had become legendary but after a series of bitter spats in the run-up to their split, Charlotte probably thought they'd made the decision to break up jointly - until, that is, she read Gavin's magazine interview.

‘Charlotte certainly didn't know that Gavin had considered their relationship dead for so long. She felt that right until the end there may have been a chance they could make things work,' says a pal.

‘All in all, she feels utterly humiliated by his take 
on things because she's only 
just found all this out.'

By his own admission, Gavin said he'd had the opportunity re-evaluate his relationship 
with Charlotte while filming the reality TV show 71 Degrees North in March.

The rugby player said he'd decided the break-up would be best for son Dexter and daughter Ruby as 'he didn't want them growing up with issues'.

Our insider says: ‘Charlotte believes that Gavin's tried to portray himself in the most advantageous light possible. His account could be misconstrued so that he appears to be the only one who had the kids' interests 
at heart. She's really upset.'
