Irish police have launched a probe after Louis Walsh's phone was allegedly hacked into by a mobile phone provider's employee.
The man - who hasn't been identified - reportedly extracted information about The X Factor judge after reading messages and listening to voicemail recordings.
Vodafone alerted police and Louis, 57, when they found out.
'I knew nothing about it at all until the boss of the company contacted me,' Louis tells the Belfast Telegraph.
'I was told an employee had hacked my phone. The last I heard, the matter was with [police] and there would be a court case.
'I don't know how much personal information he managed to gather or how long it was going on.
'It makes me very wary of exchanging confidential information by phone and yet it's hard to avoid it, given the nature of this business.'
Louis is now considering whether to take legal action.
Vodafone add: 'The employee has been dismissed.'
