Mel Gibson suicide rumours - the truth

Rep says actor is alive and well

Mel Gibson starred in the Lethal Weapon movies

Mel Gibson was the victim of sick online rumours yesterday claiming that he'd died.

Twitter was flooded with speculation that the actor, 54, had committed suicide.

But a spokesperson insists he is alive and well.

The rep also denied reports that Mel plans to flee to Australia after the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department named him as a potential suspect in a domestic violence investigation involving ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

‘There's no truth [to the rumours],' the spokesperson tells Us Weekly.

Mel has been busy shooting new movie The Beaver in New York.

He and Oksana, 40 - who split in April - are currently locked in a closed court custody dispute over their 8-month-old daughter Lucia.
