Will Young gig death shock

Crew member suffers fatal injuries after backstage accident

A crew member at a Will Young gig died yesterday after falling backstage.

The man - who has not been indentified - suffered head injuries during the accident, shortly before the Pop Idol winner was due to go on stage at Rochester Castle in Kent.

He was taken to a hospital, where medics were unable to save him. 

Police are not treating the death as suspicious and a post-mortem on the man - in his 40s - is due to take place later, reports the BBC. 

The start of Will's show was delayed because of the accident. 

When it eventually got under way, police cordoned off the backstage area. 

Will, 31, was unaware of the seriousness of the incident when he finished performing.

'Someone's had an accident tonight,' he said at the end of his set.

'Let's give him a round of applause and hope he gets better.'
