Footballer checks on estranged wife's condition as she battles malaria

Ashley Cole is in LA on holiday

Cheryl Cole's estranged husband Ashley has been enjoying the sunshine in LA but the Chelsea footballer, 29, is said to be desperate for health updates on Cheryl.

Ashley made two phones calls every day last week to check on her condition, it's claimed.

'He has been checking on her twice a day and there has been a stream of get well text messages,' a source tells The Sunday People.

'Ashley mighty have got a lot of flak for cheating on her but thre's no doubt he still cares about Cheryl.'

Ashley is in Calfornia on holiday and has been snapped out clubbing with gal pals.

Cheryl Cole, 27, is now being treated for malaria in a private clinic.
