Frasier star Kelsey Grammer's wife files for divorce

Camille Donatacci seeking primary custody of their children

Frasier star Kelsey Grammer's wife Camille Donatacci, 41, cited irreconcilable differences in divorce papers lodged at an LA court yesterday.  

She is seeking primary custody of their kids Mason, 8, and Jude, 5, as well as spousal support.

‘Kelsey and Camille value privacy,' reads a statement from their rep.

‘They understand that private lives sometimes get played out in public but ask on this occasion that their privacy - and the privacy of their children - be respected.'

Kelsey, 55, hopes to keep the split amicable.  

‘I know people will be tempted to say some mean things,' he writes on his Twitter.

‘I realise that it is human nature but I ask that you be particularly sensitive to the feelings of my wife.

‘She has been a terrific partner for many years and should not be treated with any disrespect at this time. Things fell apart between us. That is all.

‘She is still the mother of my children and any disparagement of her will only hurt the children. Camille did not want this but has made a very difficult decision and I respect her for it. I appreciate your kindness for all parties in this matter.'

Kelsey has been married twice before.

He divorced first wife Doreen Alderman - with who he has daughter Spencer, 26 - in 1990 and split from second wife Leigh-Anne Cushany in 1993.

He is also dad to Greer, 18, with hairdresser Barrie Bucker.
