PICS Pregnant Alicia Keys takes part in tribal ceremony in South Africa

Singer has to do special dance

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz are engaged

Pregnant Alicia Keys and her unborn child were blessed during a traditional Zulu ceremony in Durban, South Africa, on Wednesday.

Female priests chanted as the singer danced under a fig tree, which is believed to have healing properties by locals.

Alicia was joined by fiancé Swizz Beatz, 31, for the outdoor ceremony and they both wore tribal beads and robes.

The locals decided to bless the 29-year-old because of her work with charity Bobbi Bear in the region.

'Two female priests who practise a mix of Christianity and tribal customs chose new names for her and the unborn child, as a mark of respect,' the organisation's director Jackie Branfield tells the Daily Mail.

'The names were kept between them, but were chosen to reflect Alicia's character.

'Alicia had to do a special dance with drums banging in the background, and was embraced by abused children who she has helped.'
