Heidi Montag realises she can cope without Spencer Pratt!

The moment that Heidi Montag's family had been praying for finally arrived when she announced that she'd split from her husband of one year Spencer Pratt - and then filed the papers for a legal separation.

The break-up came following weeks of torment on Heidi's part, after Spencer almost kept her under house arrest - and even forced her to take out a restraining order on her own mother.

But insiders say that Spencer isn't going to let Heidi, 23, walk away from him completely without a fight.

‘Spencer's claiming to have compromising photos of her which he says he'll sell to magazines and websites if she continues with her plans,' an insider exclusively tells Now.

‘Heidi's desperate to make it as a serious actress, but Spencer mocks her and tells her that her breasts are too big for her to be taken seriously.

'He told her he'd cheated on her, which may be a lie, but it upset her anyway.'

Spencer, 26, had also become increasingly obsessed with the US army - and, perhaps even more bizarrely, crystal therapy.

‘It all became too weird, even for Heidi,' says the friend. ‘She saw the light.

‘Heidi does realise that she can be more successful without him - and it was Spencer's biggest nightmare that she would realise.'
