Simon Cowell was in a jokey mood when he accepted his Outstanding Contribution award at the TV BAFTAs last night.
Simon got a standing ovation from the celebrities gathered at the London Palladium as Ant and Dec presented the trophy.
'This is a genuine honour,' said Simon.
'I wasn't expecting it because it's very grown-up here.
'One of my happiest memories as a kid was when my dad came home with a TV set when I was five.
'To stand here getting an award for making TV shows - it's the happiest feeling in my life.'
Simon quipped that good pals Ant and Dec, both 35, had 'slightly ruined' his evening because the duo got their gong for Best Entertainment Performance before he took to the stage.
The 50-year-old also took the opportunity to tell audiences about his idea for new TV show World's Got Talent, revealing it won't have a judging panel because everyone will try to be him.
