Heidi Montag is Spencer Pratt's 'hostage'

Just a week ago we reported that Heidi Montag was on the verge of a breakdown.

But those close to the fragile Hills star are facing fresh concern as she's being so controlled by her husband Spencer that she's only been allowed out three times in the past month.

An insider tells Now: ‘Spencer's banned Heidi from watching TV or using the internet and he changes her mobile number every few months.

'She's a hostage in her own home.

'Her family think Spencer's determined to isolate her from everyone except him.

'He keeps her in the house all day and only takes her out when he thinks there's a money-making opportunity to be had. He's terrified of losing control of her.'

Last week, Heidi, 23, filed a restraining order against her mum Darlene after she arrived at her LA home and refused to leave.

The pair fell out when Heidi underwent 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day - leaving her mum horrified.

It was Heidi who filed the order, but those close to the couple reveal that Spencer forced her to take legal action.

‘Spencer's paranoid that she might see Darlene behind his back and she could persuade Heidi to leave,' a source tells Now.

‘He thinks they're intent on catching her if she's out alone.'
