Danny Dyer: I didn't tell man to stab ex-girlfriend

Actor says he doesn't condone violence against women

Danny Dyer says he's been misquoted in a lads' magazine where he appears to jokily advise a reader to assault his ex-girlfriend.

In his Zoo column, the actor was asked by a 23-year-old for help getting over an ex-girlfriend.

‘[One] option is to cut your ex's face, then no-one will want her,' says the article.

But Danny, 32, has denied that the remarks were his.

‘This is totally out of order, I am totally devastated,' he tells The Sun.

‘I have been completely misquoted. This is not the advice I would give any member of the public I do not condone violence against women.'

Zoo have now launched an investigation into how the comments managed to make it to print.

‘Due to an extremely regrettable production error, an inappropriate and indefensible response to a letter has appeared in this week's issue,' reads a statement.

‘Zoo editor Tom Etherington apologises unreservedly for any offence the response may have caused and launched an internal inquiry to ensure lessons are learnt.

‘Zoo and Danny Dyer condemn any violence against women.'

The magazine also plans to make a donation to Women's Aid, a charity that supports victims of domestic violence.
