Alexander McQueen committed suicide after taking drugs, an inquest has concluded.
Toxicology reports revealed the designer had taken cocaine, sleeping pills and tranquillisers prior to hanging himself.
Alexander, 40, was found at his London flat on 11 February - just days after his mum Joyce passed away.
Westminster Coroner's Court heard how the fashion designer had a history of depression, anxiety and insomnia and had attempted to take his own life before, reports the BBC.
‘[He] killed himself while the balance of his mind was disturbed,' said coroner Dr Paul Knapman.
‘It seems that he had a history of self-harm and, no doubt fuelled by cocaine, he resorted to desperate measures to end his life.'
The coroner recorded a verdict of suicide, with a post-mortem finding the two causes of death were asphyxia and hanging.
