Lee Mead: Fatherhood scares me

Actor nervous about being first time parent

Lee Mead has great taste in reading material

Lee Mead is beginning to worry about becoming a dad.

The Any Dream Will Do star is expecting his first child - a girl - with wife Denise Van Outen next month.

‘I'm getting a little more scared as the date gets closer, but we're so organised I'm not too worried,' Lee told Now at the 3rd & Bird launch at London Zoo.

‘The nursery is finished and the nappies are ready to go. It's so exciting.

'Becoming a parent blows everything else out of the water. It's something I've wanted for a long time.'

Lee, 28, who is set to join the cast of Wicked next month, says his new colleagues are ready for him to dash away at a moment's notice when Denise, 35, goes into labour.

‘Denise is due during my second week of rehearsals, but they're prepared for me to rush off when I have to,' he said.

‘The first month is going to be hard, but I'll have daytimes free and I'll be back straight after the performances to do the night feeds! I'll be as hands on as Denise.'
