Darren Day has been convicted of possessing a dangerous martial arts weapon.
The actor was caught with a kubotan keyring after he was arrested for drink-driving in Edinburgh.
Darren told a two day trial at the city's sheriff court
the 5in metal stick was given to him by a pal.
He said he'd carried it for 14 years and did not know it could be considered a weapon.
But martial arts experts from Lothian And Borders Police told Sheriff William Holligan it could potentially kill someone.
Darren, 41, had earlier admitted drink-driving following his arrest on December 18.
He has been banned from the roads for five years and fined £1,250.
‘I'm very relieved it's over,' said Darren on leaving court.
‘I am deeply sorry and ashamed of what's happened, especially for my family.
‘I'm just very keen to move on now with my career and my life and leave it behind me.'
