Lady Gaga strips down to her underwear in a new 1950s-inspired photoshoot.

The singer, real name Stefani Germanotta, wears a flesh-coloured bra and pants in the spread.

Lady Gaga also gives a peek of her cleavage in a low-cut black dress.

But the 24-year-old says she wasn't always a sex symbol.

She admits she struggled to fit in at a private girls' school in New York.

'I had a very big nose, very curly brown hair and I was overweight,' she tells Cosmopolitan. 'I got made fun of.'

Lady Gaga also says she's not as exciting in real life as she is while performing. 

'My friends joke that I'm dead until I get on stage,' she adds.
