Richard Madeley has spoken out to defend his wife Judy Finnigan

Judy Finnigan is secretly struggling with partial blindness, it has emerged.

The former This Morning host, 61, will need a year to regain her full sight after having 2 operations on her right eye.

Husband Richard Madeley has been forced to open up about Judy's condition after she was snapped looking bleary-eyed following a recent family lunch.

'Crude comments were written about her eyes,' he says. ‘For the record, Judy is recovering from not one, but two, operations in recent weeks on her right eye...

'The surgery was successful but her eyesight will take at least 12 months to return to normal. Currently, it is very distorted. Her depth perception is poor, and of course she feels more comfortable with an arm for support while crossing the road.'

Judy also find walking painful.

‘She has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligaments in both her knees,' Richard, 53, tells the Daily Mail, 'and like most people with this condition, appreciates an arm or rail going up or down steps or curbs.'
