Kate Winslet splits from husband Sam Mendes

Actress and director broke up earlier this year

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes were married for six years

Kate Winslet has separated from her husband Sam Mendes, the couple's lawyer confirms.

The Oscar-winning actress and director parted ways earlier this year.

'The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement,' says Keith Schilling.

'Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.

'They ask that the media respect their privacy at this time.'

She also has daughter Mia Honey, 9, from her first marriage to Jim Threapleton.
