The X Factor winner smoulders in first shoot

Joe McElderry was mentored by Cheryl Cole on The X Factor

Joe McElderry has landed a modelling contract.

The X Factor winner was signed by Next Models after designer Christopher Kane 'spotted' him at London Fashion Week.

'Not only does Joe have those classic James Dean-type looks but he also photographs fantastically and has great potential,' say bosses at the firm.

'We are already in talks with two major British designers who are keen for Joe to front campaigns.'

Photographer Simon Harris snapped the 18-year-old for his first shoot recently.

'I couldn't believe it when I saw the pictures of myself,' Joe tells The Sun.

'I'm really enjoying learning more about this industry.

'And it will be exciting to continue doing this alongside my music.'

Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung are also signed to Next Models.
