Simon Cowell: I've been texting Cheryl Cole

Simon Cowell has been offering Cheryl Cole his support following her split from husband Ashley.

The Girls Aloud star separated from the Chelsea footballer, 29, last month over allegations he cheated. 

'We've been in touch, of course,' says Simon, 50. 'We text back and forth.

'She's a friend and you're always there for friends.

'I told her you've got to stick to what feels right for you.'

Simon reckons fellow X Factor judge Cheryl, 26, will overcome her heartache. 

'She's having a hard time right now,' he tells the Daily Mail. 'But she'll be fine.'
