Sharon Osbourne believes Cheryl Cole would be a big hit on the US version of The X Factor.

'Cheryl will just be a delight over here - people will adore her,' she predicts.

'She's such a warm young woman.

'It's going to be huge in America. It'll wipe out American Idol.

'But I wouldn't do it again - been there, done it.' 

Sharon, 57 - who has just published her first novel Revenge - is also enthusiastic about Simon Cowell's fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy.

'She's gorgeous - an absolutely exquisite woman,' she tells Now. 'It's so great to see him with someone of the appropriate age!'
