Sean Penn charged with battery and vandalism

Actor faces up to 18 months in prison

Sean Penn does not have to appear at the next court hearing

Sean Penn's been charged with battery and vandalism.

The two misdemeanour counts stem from a reported scuffle with a photographer in LA in October.

Sean allegedly kicked the paparazzo and damaged his camera.

The next court session will take place on 22 March.

Sean, 49, faces up to 18 months in jail if convicted.
