Tom Cruise signs up for Mission: Impossible sequel

Fourth movie will be released in May 2011

Tom Cruise plays Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible franchise

Tom Cruise has agreed to star in another Mission: Impossible film.

The actor is reprising his role as secret agent Ethan Hunt.

He will also produce the movie with JJ Abrams, who directed the third installment. 

‘Tom and JJ are great talents,' says Brad Grey, chairman of Paramount Pictures.

‘We are excited to be working with them to relaunch this legendary franchise.'

Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec will write the script, based on an original idea by Tom, 47, and JJ.

A director is yet to be announced but shooting begins in the summer.

The film will be released in May 2011.
