Lil Wayne sentencing postponed for dental surgery

Rapper needs to have oral treatment in Miami

It's thought Lil Wayne's jewel-encrusted teeth cost $150,000

Lil Wayne's sentencing for a weapons possession case has been delayed - because he needs urgent dental work.

The rapper, 27, appeared at a Manhattan court yesterday to request a postponement so he can have oral surgery in Miami on Friday.

His lawyer Stacey Richman said he was unable to undergo treatment beforehand as his dentist had been out of the country doing charity work.

Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, will now be sentenced on 2 March.

He could spend a year in jail after pleading guilty to charges arising from a 2007 arrest
when a gun was found on his tour bus after a concert in Manhattan.

Lil Wayne faces a separate trial in Arizona on 30 March for felony drug possession and weapons charges, stemming from an arrest in January 2008.
