Coronation Street to screen first lesbian kiss

Brooke Vincent plays Sophie Webster in Coronation Street

Coronation Street stars Brooke Vincent and Sacha Parkinson are to film the ITV soap's first lesbian smooch.

Their characters Sophie Webster and Sian Powers kiss during an episode which airs on Friday 9 April.

Viewers will see the girls snog after Sophie tries to comfort Sian when she splits from her boyfriend Ryan Connor (Ben Thompson).

‘They think they're just good friends but their feelings for each other have been growing,' a source tells The Sun.

‘Sian runs back to Sophie sobbing - and their emotions take over.'
