Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie to return to EastEnders

Pair will be back on screen in the autumn

Jessie Wallace joined the cast of EastEnders as Kat Slater in 2000

Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie are reprising their roles as Kat and Alfie Moon in EastEnders.

Their characters were last seen on Christmas Day 2005, when they left Walford for a new life in the US.

‘I am excited to slip back into Kat's stilettos,' says Jessie, 38. ‘I've missed her.'

She and Shane, 45, will make their comeback in the autumn.

‘I'm very much looking forward to returning to EastEnders to find out what Alfie has been up to and what the future has in store for him,' he says.

‘More than anything, I'm looking forward to getting my face covered in Kat's lipstick again.'
