James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff married in a low-key ceremony in October 2006

James McAvoy's wife Anne-Marie Duff is pregnant with their first child.

The couple's spokesman Rupert Fowler confirmed the news.

But no further information has been released.

Anne-Marie, 39, recently admitted she was broody.

‘I would love to have a baby,' she said. ‘I'm not putting it off but unfortunately bodies don't work that way.'

Anne-Marie and James, 30, met while playing lovers in hit Channel 4 show Shameless in 2003.
