John Mayer: I'm not over Jennifer Aniston

Singer says break-up was a tough time

John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston looked loved-up at the Oscars last year

John Mayer regrets the way his relationship with Jennifer Anistonended.

The singer and the Friends star, 40, got together in 2008.

But their on/off romance cooled shortly after the Oscars in February 2009.

‘I've never really gotten over it,' says John, 32. ‘It was one of the worst times of my life.

‘What would I be saying now to Jen, who I think is fantastic?

'I'd say, "I don't dislike you. In fact I like you extremely well. But I have to back out of this because it doesn't arc over the horizon...this is not my destiny."'

John admits he wants to settle down but doesn't know how he'll meet the right woman.

‘I'll be happy when I close out this life-partner thing,' he tells Rolling Stone.

‘Think of how much mental capacity I'm using to meet the right person so I can stop giving a f*** about it.'
