Stephen Gately's civil partner has officially complained to the Press Complaints Commission over a Daily Mail article about the singer.
Andrew Cowles claims Jan Moir's column - which was published following the Boyzone star's death - breached guidelines on accuracy, intrusion into grief or shock, and discrimination.
‘We're now investigating this complaint which we are taking forward formally and we'll consider it together with the 25,000 [other] complaints as soon as possible,' says PCC director Stephen Abell.
‘We'll be writing to the newspaper with this latest complaint from Andrew Cowles.'
The PCC has launched a full investigation now that ‘a connected party' has contacted them.
Jan has since expressed her regret over the timing of her column but has denies it was homophobic.
Stephen, 33, died on 10 October in Majorca from natural causes.
