Ryan Thomas: I never assaulted Tina O'Brien

Corrie star questioned after alleged row

Ryan Thomas and Tina O'Brien fell in love while playing on-screen couple Jason Grimshaw and Sarah-Louise Platt

Ryan Thomas was arrested on Friday on suspicion of assault.

The Coronation Street star was held in custody for eight hours before being released without charge.

Neighbours apparently called cops after hearing raised voices at Ryan's home in Greater Manchester.

It's alleged he rowed with his ex-girlfriend Tina O'Brien, mum to his 14-month-old daughter Scarlett.

‘Police were called to Mary Street, Cheadle, at 6.45pm on Friday, December 11, following reports of an assault,' says a police spokesman.

‘A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault and was taken into custody. He was later released without charge. Inquiries are continuing.'

Ryan, who plays Jason Grimshaw, has issued a statement through the Corrie press office.

‘I would like to make it clear that I have not and would never assault Tina,' it reads.

‘The police were satisfied this was the case and I was released without any action being taken.'

Ryan and Tina, 26, who played Sarah-Louise Platt in Corrie until 2007, split last month after almost six years together.
