Hollywood veteran won't renew his 30 Rock contract

Alec Baldwin was married to Kim Basinger

Alec Baldwin plans to retire from acting in the next few years.

The Hollywood veteran won't renew his contract for hit US show 30 Rock when it expires in 2012.

‘I don't have any interest in acting anymore,' says Alec, 51. ‘I'm not young, but I have time to do something else.'

Alec admits he's gone off making films.

‘I consider my entire movie career a complete failure,' he tells Men's Journal.

‘The goal of moviemaking is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that.'

Alec is to host the Oscars with Steve Martin, 64, next year.
