Tiger Woods says wife Elin Nordegren 'acted courageously'

Tiger Woods has admitted he was to blame for the car accident

Tiger Woods has spoken out about the crash he had just feet from his Florida home - and the wild and unfounded internet rumours he cheated on his wife with a party hostess.

'This situation is my fault and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me,' he said on his website yesterday. 'I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again.'

Following stories that he fought with wife Elin Nordegren after a US magazine reported he had had an affair with Rachel Uchitel, Tiger wrote 'this is a private matter.'

He slammed any talk of an affair as irresponsible 'false, unfounded and malicious rumours'.

'My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false,' he added.

A tape has been released of the emergency call made on Friday, when Tiger was found unconscious outside his car.
