Singer sports temporary design at American Music Awards

Rihanna wore a Marchesa gown on the red carpet of the AMAs

Rihanna found a unique way of promoting her new album at last night's American Music Awards.

The singer, 21, got on stage with the words Rated R - the name of her LP - temporarily scrawled from her neck down to her chest.

Rihanna also made sure she stood out by wearing a racy white bandage-style jumpsuit.

She performed new album tracks Hard and Wait Your Turn.
