Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin to host Oscars

Pair will take over from Hugh Jackman

Steve Martin is looking forward to working with Alec Baldwin

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are to present the 82nd Academy Awards.

The pair will take over from Hugh Jackman, 40, who fronted this year's ceremony.  

Steve, 64, has hosted the show twice before.

'I don't play the banjo but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars,' says Alec, 51. 'It's the opportunity of a lifetime.'

Bosses hope the comedy duo will be a hit with viewers. 

'We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars,' show producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic tell People.

'Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event.'

The 82nd Academy Awards will take place on 7 March in Hollywood.
