Jordan's Afghanistan request turned down

Glamour model planned to visit troops

Jordan and Peter Andre finalised their divorce last week

Jordan will not be going to war-torn Afghanistan in the run up to Christmas.

The glamour model, real name Katie Price, wanted to spend two days meeting troops in Helmand Province.

But military chiefs have told Jordan, 31, who visited Kosovo during the Balkans conflict, that the timing isn't right.  

'Katie Price did ask to visit Afghanistan but owing to a packed
schedule of visits and the second round of elections in the country,
her request was turned down,' an Ministry of Defence spokesperson tells the Evening Standard.

Meanwhile, her fans caused chaos at a WHSmith store in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, at the weekend.

The estimated 2,000 people left the shop in a mess as they scrambled to meet Jordan at the signing of her new book Standing Out: My Look, My Style, My Life.
