Hearing will now take place next month
Monday, 26 October 2009
A judge has adjourned an assault case involving Leona Lewis - because the alleged suspect is ‘not fit' to attend court.
Peter Kowalczyk, 29, of Waterloo, was due in the dock on charges of attacking The X Factor winner at a central London book signing on 14 October.
He has since been sectioned under the Mental Health Act - which means he was not allowed to leave hospital to appear at the City Of Westminster Magistrates today.
Lawyer Mark Fidler told the judge that the results of psychiatric tests on his client will help indicate how to move forward, reports the BBC.
The case has been adjourned until 23 November.
Kowalczyk is on unconditional bail.
