Robbie Williams said he wanted Olly Murs, 25, to be his mate and now he is! 

According to Olly's close friend 
Jon Goodey, 21, the pair have been inseparable since Rob mentored Olly on The X Factor during the first live episode.

‘Robbie's got a real soft spot for Olly because he can see himself in him,' he exclusively tells Now.

‘They're very similar. They're both great showmen, but also quite insecure behind closed doors.

'Like Robbie, Olly doesn't always realise just how talented he is.'

Robbie, whose live performance of new single Bodies had mixed reviews, wowed the critics with a flawless gig at the Electric Proms in north London last week.

Now Olly is making the most of his new mate's advice and experience.

‘They text and call each other all the time,' continues Jon. ‘Even if Olly doesn't win the show, he knows he's got a good friend in Robbie now.'
