Cheryl Cole is expected to top the charts this weekend.

Fight For This Love sold more copies on its first day than current No 1 - Bad Boys by Alexandra Burke.

It means X Factor judge Cheryl, 26, is on course to notch up the year's biggest-seller so far.

‘[Cheryl's in] pole position to top the official singles chart on Sunday,' Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot tells the BBC.

‘She is likely to set the sales standard by which everyone will be judged for the rest of the year in the run-up to Christmas.'

Bad Boys is currently the fastest-selling single of 2009, with 185,000 copies shifted last week.
