Lindsay Lohan held her lawyer's hand on the way into court

Lindsay Lohan's three year probation term has been lengthened by 12 months.

The actress was in a Beverly Hills court on Friday for a progress review related to two drink-driving cases in 2007.

Her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley asked for the extension because she said Lindsay had been busy with work and
unable complete her substance abuse treatment programme.

‘I ordered you into court today because I wanted to speak to you directly,' said Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel.

‘I don't want to get any more notices again [that you might be in violation of probation], no warrants...where you're thumbing your nose at the court.'

The judge told Lindsay, 23, to get prior court approval the next times she leaves LA for work, and warned that failure to comply could lead to jail time.

Another hearing has been scheduled for 15 December.
