Britney Spears's single 3 reaches No 1 in the US
Britney Spears has gone straight to number one in the US with her latest single 3.
The singer is the first act to debut at the top of the Hot 100 Chart in more than three years, according to Billboard.
‘I am truly blessed with the greatest fans in the world and I am so happy y'all love it because I do this all for you,' she says on her website.
Aside from American Idol contestants, Britney, 27, is the first artist to go straight in at number one since Lauren Hill in 1998.
Britney's last single If U Seek Amy peaked at number 19 in the US charts.
The track 3 is the only new song to appear on her greatest hits album The Singles - due out 24 November.
