Louis Walsh: I wanted Stephen Gately to do Celebrity Big Brother

But Boyzone star wasn't very keen

Louis Walsh pulled out of Sunday's X Factor following Stephen Gately's death

Louis Walsh asked Stephen Gately to appear in the next series of Celebrity Big Brother.

The X Factor judge met the Boyzone star for the final time last week in London to discuss projects.

‘I wanted him to do Celebrity Big Brother,' Louis, 57, tells the Daily Mirror.

‘He said he'd think about it but he didn't want to do it.

'He wanted to be in the musical Jersey Boys. He told me, "That's all I want."'

Stephen, 33, was found dead at his holiday home in Majorca on Saturday after a night out in Palma.
