Now Jamie’s gone, Kym can look forward to the single life

The relationship between Kym Marsh and Jamie Lomas changed forever after the sad death of baby son Archie in February, but it wasn't only their grief that soured their happiness.

Now can exclusively reveal that Kym, 33, was on the phone to her friends two days before the official announcement of their split last week, complaining about Jamie's lack of ambition.

Our source says: ‘Kym was disillusioned about life with Jamie. He's been depressed about his lack of work and having got stuck in a rut of doing nightclub appearances since he left Hollyoaks.

‘They weren't a couple who rowed because they were living in a house with two children [Kym's son David, 14, and daughter Emily, 11], but it became clear that Jamie couldn't stay there any more, 
so he packed his bags and moved out of her Cheshire home.

'It's the worst thing that could happen for him. He's lost his girlfriend and his career's at an all time low. He's reached rock bottom.'

Jamie, 28, had grand visions of a Hollywood career when he quit his Hollyoaks role as Warren Fox in May, saying: ‘I'm going to LA, but when Kym has breaks in filming she'll be popping out to see me.' But that fell through.

It's a familiar story for Kym, whose ex-husband Jack Ryder was a big star in EastEnders when they wed in 2002, but struggled to find acting jobs after he left the soap that year. The couple split in March 2008.

Now while Jamie's career has gone into in freefall, Kym's enjoying huge success as barmaid Michelle Connor in Coronation Street.

In May, she had a boob job and liposuction, which she confessed ‘really changed my life'.

‘Friends always tried to defend the relationship, saying they were made for each other,' says our source, 'but the truth is Kym and Jamie have been struggling for a long time.'
