Singer Sonique spoke exclusively to Now about how having cancer has changed her outlook.
Diagnosed this year with breast cancer, the Feels So Good singer, 41, was a guest at Breast Cancer Campaign's Pink Ribbon Ball at The Dorchester on Saturday.
‘I was always a manic individual before, but having cancer has changed my attitude to life,' she says.
‘I realised I don't have to do that much and I listen to people more now than I used to. It's changed my perspective loads.
‘I really want to be involved now in charities like Breast Cancer Campaign. I want women especially to know you can still go out and you can still have a life.
‘My new single is called World of Change, and people said to me they think that's spooky because everything has changed for me, but I believe in God so I think everything happens for a reason.
‘I'm also working on my record label with lots of young artists, and it means something to me to be doing something good for them.'
Sonique, real name Sonia Clarke, is having chemotherapy and says that treatment has been effective so far.
‘The doctors have been great, everyone's been great,' she adds.
‘The treatment's been going well. I'm doing very well - I'm one of the lucky ones.'
