Tonight Dannii Minogue apologised for the embarrassing remark she made about Danyl Johnson in front of The X Factor live audience on Saturday.
Danyl, 27, sang And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going from the musical Dreamgirls - normally sung by a woman - which includes the line, 'You're the best man I'll ever know'.
Dannii, 37, questioned why the singer had changed the lyrics.
She told Danyl, 'If we are to believe everything we read in the paper maybe you didn't need to change the gender reference in it'.
The X Factor hopeful, who wowed judges in the first round of auditions, has already admitted he's dated men but looked uncomfortable.
On this evening's results show, Dannii assured viewers that her comment was humorous, that Danyl hadn't been offended or upset and that they had been joking about the subject during Friday's rehearsal.
'I'd like to apologise to anyone that was offended by my comments, it was never my intention,' she writes in her blog.
Though obviously shocked last night, Simon Cowell supported his fellow judge and said that there was no more to say on the matter.
Danyl, who is safely through to next week's show, did not comment.
Kandy Rain received the fewest viewers' votes and made their exit.
