Dannii Minogue appeared to embarrass Danyl Johnson and shocked The X Factor live audience last night when she questioned why the singer had changed the lyrics to his song.

Danyl sang And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going from the musical Dreamgirls - normally sung by a woman - which includes the line, 'You're the best man I'll ever know'.

When it was her turn to comment on Danyl's dramatic performance, Dannii, 37, instead chose to say, 'If we are to believe everything we read in the paper maybe you didn't need to change the gender reference in it'.

Simon Cowell was so shocked, he asked her to repeat what she'd said and, astonishingly, she did so.

Danyl, 27, looked incredulous - he'd been expecting Dannii's view on his voice, not his lovelife.

The X Factor hopeful, who wowed judges in the first round of auditions, has already admitted he's a massive flirt.

‘I wouldn't rule out someone just because of their gender,' Danyl told the News Of The World.

'I hate boxes, so I don't like to call myself gay, straight or bisexual.

'But yeah, I'll admit that I have dated men.'
