Actor is cross-examined by the defence
Thursday, 1 October 2009
John Travolta took to the stand again during an extortion trial in the Bahamas yesterday.
Ex-senator Pleasant Bridgewater and paramedic Tarino Lightbourne are accused of demanding $25million (£15m) from the actor following the death of son Jett, 16, on 2 January.
John, 55, testified that he instructed his lawyer to go to the authorities when employee Ronald Zupancic told him the pair allegedly wanted cash in return for keeping a medical paper private.
'If it were not met, then certain stories connected to that document would be sold to the press,' he told the court.
'They were stories that implied that the death of my son was intentional - that I was culpable in some way.'
During cross-examination, John revealed he wasn't directly approached by the duo.
Pleasant Bridgewater and Tarino Lightbourne deny the charges. The case continues.
