Cheryl Cole feels she isn't ready to start a family with husband Ashley .

The X Factor judge and the Chelsea footballer, 28, have been married for 3 years and Cheryl wants children 'sooner rather than later' - but not now.

'It wouldn't be very good timing,' she explains. 'I am not trying, I am preventing.' 

When she's ready, Cheryl does want a large brood.

'Having a baby is important to me because I am from a big family,' she tells The Sunday Times. 'I have friends who put it off and I don't want to do that.

'I feel like all this that I do is just make-believe and at the end of the make-believe I will always have my family.

'So if I am blessed, touch wood and all that, I would love a big family. But nobody knows, do they, nobody knows.'
