Alexandra Burke admits winning The X Factor has a downside.

The singer claims her relationship with her mum Melissa Bell - who enjoyed success with band Soul II Soul in the 1980s - has been affected.

‘She had Soul II Soul but it didn't last long,' Alexandra, 21, tells Marie Claire. ‘Then I get this big show, I win it, and it's weird for her to see this.

‘Although she's proud, it's like she wants to rewind time to when she was younger, when she didn't have kids. I've never talked about this. We're not a perfect family.'

But Melissa insists she's always supported Alex. 

'What type of mum is jealous of her daughter?' she tells the Sunday Mirror.

'She doesn't have millions but when she does she'll look after me.'
